Dresden Plate variation vintage quilt all hand stitched 1930s fine! This vintage quilt has been well cared for over the years and is in outstanding condition. All cotton, in sturdy condition (fabric and stitching are strong) and the colors are sharp and vivid. No running of colors onto the background.
The quilt was handsewn by a North Dakota lady in the 1930s.Her daughter (now in her 90s) calls it a Dresden Plate quilt, although some DP quilts look very different, so this might be a variation. The pattern in this quilt are stars (made from diamond-shaped patches) in one kind of fabric pattern set inside a hexagon of another pattern, also made from diamond shaped patches. All seemed to be unique. These are set on an off-white background also made of hand stitched diamonds.
The border edges of the quilt are scallopped. It measures 72" by 102" which would cover the top of a double or queen sized bed. It is not padded, but it is finished.
As mentioned, it is in very good condition, with no stains, tearing or damage. A rare find.
